You know what, turns out we were actually neighbors. Back in 2011, I used to live near his place, I’m pretty sure we crossed paths a couple of times but never really talked. I didn’t even know his name. Then in 2016 I left and started moving around, and after that I never saw or heard about him again, Fadil.

Fast forward to this year, April 2025, right during the Eid holiday season, his mom came over to my house with our old neighbors. Out of nowhere, they got this idea to matchmake us, since we were both single and already getting the usual “when are you getting married?” pressure.

Long story short, he followed me on IG and slid into my DMs. We ended up talking and getting to know each other for about 3 months. Our first date was actually watching the movie Komang at the cinema, our families had no clue about any of this until I’m writing it here. During that time, I kinda knew he was the one because somehow he could stay calm even when I threw tantrums lol. By the 4th month, he asked to make things “serious”.

I finally decided to move back to Makassar after 3 years in Jogja. Then in August, we met up in Bali, he was running the Maybank Marathon while I was there for work. We flew back to Makassar together, and less than a week later, we got engaged. And that’s it, I’ll stop here before it turns into a full-on novel or gets picked up as a movie plot.

Guess love really does find its way back. Wish us luck!
